Therapist in Southampton – Hello!

If you’re looking for counselling in Southampton and/or online, find out more about me and get in touch. My name is Dr Mike Hoffman and I am a psychotherapist in Southampton and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society. As a counsellor, I work with adults and young people who want to better their situation, regardless of what it is, and without judgement.

Sometimes we may feel so low that we lose hope, but a therapy professional like myself will enable you to find solutions you didn’t know existed. I am a qualified integrative and humanistic counsellor, and also offer many styles of talk therapy, for example CBT therapy, DBT, counselling for men, psychodynamic approach, couples therapy (relationship counselling), Gestalt, and other modern therapies. Let’s have a chat and discuss! I offer a free initial consultation.

Dr Mike Hoffman is very patient and eager to listen, to understand, and proactively engage with his patients. He has helped me to understand and navigate my thoughts and feelings better, and he has helped me to gain self-confidence. After each session, my mind feels clearer and like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. In my opinion, these are important signs that tell you if you're seeing a good therapist and the right one for you. I would highly recommend Dr. Mike Hoofman to anyone looking to get some counselling. 😀

Mike has been wonderful, supporting my teenager with counselling. Mike combines a listening approach with tips and helpful guidance and respects my son's requests for confidentiality.

We have been seeing Mike for a few weeks now and can't recommend him enough. Mike creates a safe, welcoming environment where we both feel comfortable enough to open up. Mike's expertise has allowed us to address deep-rooted issues and emotions. After every appointment, we leave feeling positive and ready to try out the new tools Mike has taught us.

Mark has been incredible for my daughter and I, allowing a joint session for us and then 1-1 appointments for her. He has offered to be able to cure my daughter’s attachment disorder and her anxiety. She has had 5 sessions so far and I’ve seen a huge improvement in her mental health, he has helped repair our relationship and helped us communicate through the difficult subjects. She is now confident enough to attend the gym and he has changed her life. I would highly recommended Mark, he really shows he cares, he knows exactly what to say and how to help. He’s great with teenagers and my daughter has had a few counsellors which she didn’t feel helped her much, where as Mark has really made a difference.

I had the privilege of experiencing peer counselling with Mike, and I can genuinely say he is warm, understanding, and deeply attentive. Mike has a remarkable ability to listen in a way that makes you feel truly heard, creating a safe and supportive space. I never once felt judged, which gave me the courage to be completely honest and explore my truth. If you're looking for someone to help you connect with your inner voice and feel truly seen, I highly recommend Mike

I honestly can’t thank Mike enough for the support he gave me. When we first started the sessions, I felt totally stuck in a rut and wasn’t sure where my life was headed. Mike has this great way of helping you reflect on life without ever making you feel judged. Talking things over with him, I started feeling more confident and motivated to actually go after a new career path - something I’d been putting off for years. Now I'm finally in a job I really enjoy, thriving, and it feels like my life’s moving forward again. If you’re feeling lost or need a push, I’d definitely recommend reaching out to him!
