DBT

One type of therapy that I offer, alongside person-centred, CBT and psychodynamic therapies, is DBT or dialectical behaviour therapy. Professionals experienced in DBT are normally more difficult to find – it’s a modern modality suitable for individuals who experience their emotions very intensely.

Would this be useful to you?

The aim of DBT is to help you:

  • Understand how your “difficult” feelings work
  • Learn really practical skills to manage these feelings in the moment, and long term
  • Improve your life

‘Dialectical’ means trying to understand how two things that seem opposite could both be true (accepting yourself and still wanting to change yourself).

DBT shows that it’s possible for you to achieve both change and acceptance.
